She, her, what?

Posted on Saturday 27 January 2007

I feel sorry for people who don’t speak Russian. Why? Because they will never “get” the play of words that is the band (well group) name “T.a.t.u.”.
Sure, I could sit here and explain how it means “she loves her” or “she does her” or “she wants her”… But one of the great things in the Russian language is how flexible it is without becoming vulgar. I don’t mean vulgar in a way that would insinuate nasty words. I mean vulgar in a different way.
When I look at how some young English native speakers abuse their mother-tongue, that is the kind of vulgarity I mean.
Anyway - as I said, I could sit down and explain to you all the different meanings and aspects of that word-combination. But it will never bring across just what is meant.
Still - I have nothing better to do, so wahaaaaay!

AT LAST!!

Posted on Saturday 20 January 2007

At last I have been able to fulfill my idea. I’ve been wanting to stop using that damned Excel to organize my audiobooks list for AGES. Now I have finally done it.
And I’ve worked it into my website too. Now I just have to put the most recent books in it so that it’s up to date.
Now I can finally show off how cool I am

Click “My Audiobooks” to see the list.

Another thing that is bugging the hell out of me is Apple.
I mean what the hell is wrong with these people? Okay, I can see the point of Macs… Oh pardon me, I meant iMac (what is that “i” for anyway? Irritating?) and laptops made by apple. Those are useful wee buggers and if you can’t be bothered really WORKING with your computer, then go right ahead and use it. Be my guest… The only thing I don’t like about Macs is that they’re insanely over-priced and you can’t DO anything to them… With your common PC you can upgrade, modify just about ANYTHING you want to. Sure, this also opens a door to misconfiguration and you being an idiot and breaking things (like I have many times). But where would be the fun without that? And what would we learn?
But, if what you wanna do is just browse a little, use e-mail and photoshop (or whatever they use for graphics), then that’s cool. And if you can even afford that iMac, more power to you!
But then Apple got greedy and along came the iPod.
Okay, maybe I’m the only person in the world, but I find them UGLY as sin. They’re just horrible!
I have my own little mp3 player and it does me just fine and guess what, I didn’t have to shell out a hundred Euros!
So now we get all these horrible people who are part of that new sect of people who worship anything that Apple produces. No matter how shitty and useless it may be. If it’s something that has a name beginning with “i”, then these people are going to love it!
I mean these people make FAN WEB SITES dedicated to APPLE products! That just ain’t right…

Stayfriends… yeah right.

A couple of weeks ago, I had an idea: hey, let’s google the names of a few people you went to school with!
So I went and I googled and I found virtually nothing.
I say virtually nothing, because I did find two names mentioned on Germany’s equivalent to friendsreunited.com. And I thought, yeah! This’ll be fun!
So I signed up and sent a message to each of the two people.
And haven’t heard from them since…
I should be asking for my money back :lol

It’s alright if you’re bored…

That at any rate was the excuse I had for making a little “remix” of Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” - a superb song, don’t let yourself be put off by my version of it
I asked myself, what would it sound like if you put Michael’s voice over a sort of slow latin beat? So I went and fooled around a little. Luckily I had a DVD-Acappella of Black or White (DVD-Acappella, because it was extracted from a Surround-Chanel of a DVD) and so I slapped it on and well, you can listen to the result in a little while (if you continue reading. You could of course just scroll down and download the bugger, but that would be just SO rude!).
What really bugs me about this remix is the fact that I didn’t have a clean Acappella. You hear some background-noise from the video and I had no way of editing it out.
Plus it ended up even more boring than it was supposed to be. No doubt my next stupid remix will be more fun and less boring. But hey, any excuse to dust the old blog off and write something in it, right?
Actually it’s not so much a latino style, it’s more sort of “easy listening”.
